Not all scholarships are based on academic performance! Many scholarships consider major interest, ethnic or religious background, artistic or athletic ability, family history, community service– the list is endless!
When should I apply?
-
It is NEVER too early to start your scholarship search! There are thousands of scholarships available to students and, the sooner you start searching, the more you will find.
-
Some scholarships will require transcripts, essays, and recommendation letters, which is why it is important to start the application process early.
-
60% of scholarship deadlines fall between February and April of senior year. Begin applying at least a few months prior, ideally between September and December.
Use an excel spreadsheet to keep track of scholarship dates and deadlines.
If a scholarship requires a letter of recommendation, ask early.

Scholarship Scams
-
Be careful about the information you’re submitting! A legitimate scholarship will never ask for payment or personal information.
-
It can never be guaranteed that you will receive a scholarship. If this is advertised on a database, use caution.
-
If you are unsure if a scholarship offer is legitimate, research the foundation or program to see if it is a credible scholarship.
